Son of Richard Samson Davies and Elizabeth Ellen Davies, of “Wigmore”, Bradford Street, Haulgh, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy the Bolton Grammar School. Joined the Officer Training Corps and commissioned as Second Lieutenant into the East Yorkshire Regiment, before transfer to the Royal Flying Corps. Reported missing after one day at front on 13/04/1917, captured prisoner of war, interned at Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany. Repatriated 17/12/1918.
