Edwards, George –

Husband of Mrs. Edwards, of Leigh, Lancashire. Of Little Hulton, Lancashire. Formerly Essex Regiment, discharged having been found medically unfit; and King’s Royal Rifle Corps, also discharged as not likely to become an efficient soldier. No overseas service. Claimed to have been wounded at Arras injuring his spine being buried. Hospitalised at Great Yarmouth and transferred to the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. Subsequently discharged from Cambridge Hospital. Appeared before the Bolton County Magistrates charged with illegally wearing a gold wound stripe 04/07/1918, and further for possession of an altered discharge certificate 11/07/1918. Found guilty on both charges 18/07/1918 and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
