Third son of Major Thomas Robert Griffiths and Lily Morrill Griffiths, of “Airlee”, Telscombe Road, Peacehaven, Newhaven, Sussex, and formerly of 30, Bromwich Street, Haulgh, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of the Bolton Church Institute (1908-1909) and the Rivington and Blackrod Grammar School. Died from wounds on HMS Triumph in the Dardanelles.
