Formerly Lance Corporal, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment and Machine Gun Corps. Commissioned Second Lieutenant, West Riding Regiment in 1917. Reported severely wounded in September 1918, a bullet having penetrated his back and lodged in his chest. His only brother serving with the Royal Army Medical Corps.
