Hayden, John –

Son of Mary Carson (formerly Hayden), of 5, Avenue Street, Chorley Old Road, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late Richard Hayden. Previously served as Private 10918, 3rd Bn., King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, having enlisted 18/03/1913 at Bury. Wounded by shrapnel in left foot and discharged 19/12/1914 as no longer physically fit for war service. Appeared before Bolton Magistrates Court aged 22 on 17/06/1915 as a discharged soldier for having been drunk and disorderly in Churchgate on 16/06/1915. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26). Re-enlisted and discharged. Subsequently re-enlisted in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, September 1915.
