Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Healey, of 34, Nuttall Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously enlisted as Private 5642, 5th Bn, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Reported as possibly the youngest Sergeant in the Army at just over 17 years old. Promoted to Lance Corporal a few weeks after joining 28/09/1915, to Corporal on 16/10/1915, and to Sergeant in 29/12/1915. One of three brothers to serve. Reverted to Private on transfer to King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment 29/04/1916.
