Son of Mary Eccles (formerly Jackson), of 51, Green Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late Andrew Jackson. Although already enlisted in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, he attempted to “fraudulently enlist” again in April 1915 at Bolton in the Bolton Artillery, but was discovered.
