Formerly Sergeant 136, Montreal Cyclists’ Corps, Canadian Imperial Forces, having previously served as a Sergeant in the 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Commissioned 10/09/1915. Appointed temporary Lieutenant. Appointed temporary Captain (July 1916). Promoted Acting Captain whilst commanding a company August 1917.
