NOTE:- Known as Frank DONELLAN and as Joseph LESLIE. Husband of Lucy Donellan, of Bolton, Lancashire, estranged for 10 years. Brother-in-law of Bert Waller and brother of Mrs. Waller, of “Gibside”, West Street, Crewe, Cheshire. Enlisted 06/07/1915 at Melbourne into 21st Bn., Australian Imperial Forces, and discharged 23/08/1915 for misconduct having been drunk in camp and having brought spiritous liquor into the camp (per details contained within service records under Private 4578. Also previously numbered 4279. Re-enlisted “owing to loss of original attestation papers,” having previously re-enlisted 27/08/1915 at Melbourne as Private 4536 in 14th Bn., and later reported absent without leave since 07/03/1916 from Broadmeadows Camp, and declared a illegally absent and a Deserter 19/04/1916. On that enlistment birthplace was given as Bolton, Lancashire.
