Son of Mary Elizabeth MacLagan (nee Graham), of Rockwood House, Rothbury, Northumberland, and the late Philip Smirton MacLagan. Formerly Royal Army Medical Corps. Commissioned 25/01/1916. Attached 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment at time of death. His brother Lieutenant Philip Whiteside MacLagan, M.i.D. (5th Bn., Border Regiment) also fell.
