Son of Mary Gilford Meads, and brother of Dorothy Meads, of 57, Rosamond Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Previous territorial service as Gunner 1446, in the 3rd East Lancashire Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, enlisted 06/01/1915 at Bolton and discharged 25/06/1915. Re-enlisted in Loyal North Lancashire Regiment and discharged due to valvular disease of the heart. Died in Bolton aged 20 years on 16/11/1916 and interred in Bolton (Heaton) Cemetery on 18/11/1916
