Caught aged 19 as a deserter from 3rd/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment at Weeton Camp since 11/08/1915, since 08/09/1915, and since 14/09/1915. Appeared before Bolton Magistrates 19/08/1915, 09/09/1915, and 25/09/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26). Wounded 10/10/1916.
