Son of Mr. and Mrs. James Rimmer, of St. Helens, Lancashire; husband of Annie Rimmer, of 4, Telford Street, Brownlow Fold, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 50, Ramwell Street, and 11, Mort Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 21 as an absentee from 3rd Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment at Felixstowe since 30/08/1915 and further as a deserter from the same date. Appeared before Bolton Magistrates 18/09/1915 and 02/10/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).
