Only son of Mr. Samuel Shaw, of Darley Street, Farnworth, Lancashire; husband of Dorothy (Dolly) Ssaw (nee Watson). An old boy of the Bolton Municipal Secondary School. Formerly organist of the Farnworth Parish Church. Joined the Bolton troop of the Duke of Lancaster’s Own Yeomanry in 1913, and on the outbreak applied for a commission, being Gazetted to the Royal Field Artillery in December 1914.
