Formerly 8277, 1st Bn., Scots Guards; formerly Private 23543, 3rd and 2nd Bns., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded and brought home for hospital treatment August 1914. Discharged and re-enlisted following recovery. Caught as an absentee July 1917 and returned to his unit under escort. Formerly 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Posted missing since 30/11/1917 and interned prisoner of war at Dulmen.
