Previously served as Private 3435 with the Lancashire Fusiliers, enlisting 30/09/1890 at Bury, including service in the South African Campaign. Discharged time-expired 29/09/1902. War service: formerly 6335, 9th Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers. Wounded 07/08/1915. Appeared aged 53 before Bolton Magistrates 09/05/1919 having been found drunk and disorderly in Back Knowsley Street on 08/05/1915. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/30). Died aged 69 years on 26/08/1936 at Townleys Hospital from Senility, and interred 29/08/1936 in Bolton (Heaton) Cemetery.
