Formerly employed by the Tyldesley District Council. Mistakenly reported as killed, subsequently confirmed wounded when his dug-out was blown up and in hospital. Formerly Corporal, Royal Engineers. Commissioned 1918 for good work under heavy fire while serving in Egypt. Attached to the Egyptian Labour Corps.
