He was killed on the afternoon of 09/08/1918, when his battalion advanced in the face of stout opposition from the enemy who placed a heavy barrage at the “jumping-off” place and from hidden nests poured machine gun fire into the ranks of our men who pushed forward.

In Canada 12 years. “While in a trench at Hill 60, Zillebeke, he was instantly killed when an enemy shell burst in the trench close to him.”
