Ramsden, Sam –

Brother of Mrs. Gee, of 370, Darwen Road, Dunscar, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly of 333, Darwen Road, Bromley Cross, Turton, Lancashire. Reported missing since 19/04/1916, taken prisoner of war. Attempted escape six times.

Reed (Dempsey), John A –

NOTE:- Enlisted as John Dempsey. Son of Mrs. C. Dempsey, of 24, Acton Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously served ten years with the Preston Militia (East Lancashire Regiment) including service in the South African Campaign. Killed at Courcelette, body not recovered.

Reekie, Harold –

Son of Mr. David Reekie, headmaster of Oxford Grove Council School, and of Avonmore, 185, Chorley New Road, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Grammar School (1899-1906). Formerly a Sergeant in the Canadian Gordon Highlanders, but gave up his stripes to get to the Front sooner. Died of wounds (gun shot back, thighs and arms) at No.16 General Hospital, Le Treport.

Richardson, Albert Edward –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Richardson, of 43, John Taylor Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Killed in the attack at Courcelette.
