Husband of Mary Helen Robinson, of 3, Greenside Avenue, London, Ontario, Canada.

Robinson, John –

Son of the late James and Ellen Robinson, of 300, Wigan Road, Deane, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Mary H. Robinson (nee Heyes), of 548, 4th Avenue North, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; brother of Mrs. Edmundson, of 292, Wigan Road, Deane, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously served three years in the Duke of Lancaster’s Own Yeomanry. Killed in Action at trenches near Festubert.

Rothwell, Albert Edward –

Son of Alfred and Emily Rothwell (nee Horrocks), of 44, Halliwell Road, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Mary Rothwell, of 5, Ida Street, st. Catherines, Ontario, Canada. Late of Bolton. Eldest of four soldier brothers. Reported missing since an attack at Courcelette on 15/09/1916 and subsequently presumed killed. His father served at Salonika with the Royal Army Service Corps before being discharged as unfit.

Brother of Mr. M. Rubin, of Dunwood House, 9, Wilmslow Road, Withington, Manchester, Lancashire, and formerly of Glenthorne, 535, Chorley Old Road, Bolton, Lancashire.

Ruthven, Herbert Cowburn –

Son of Hannah Elizabeth Ruthven, and the late Walter Huthcings Ruthven, formerly of Pendleton, Lancashire. Previously reported as missing during an attach at Givency-lez-la-Bassee on 15/06/1915 and subsequently presumed to have died on that date.

Ryan, William Francis –

Son of John Ryan, of 13, Cross Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Emigrated to Canada about 1911. Reported missing and subsequently confirmed wounded and prisoner of war at Limburg. Died in hospital in Coblenz, Germany. St. Gregory’s R.C. Church, Farnworth.

Husband of Nancy Schofield, of 1833, Second Avenue, West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Schofield, Walter –

Husband of Alice Schofield, of 39, Division Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly of 197, Tottington Road, Harwood, Turton, Lancashire. Killed during an attack south east of Neuville St. Vaast.

Scott, John –

Son of John and Francis Scott, of 302, Liverpool Road, Irlam, Lancashire; husband of Clara Scott, of 40, Allotment Road, Cadishead, Lancashire.

Shaw, Thomas –

Son of Thomas and Jane Shaw. Formerly resided with married sister, Mrs. Wood, of 149, Lea Gate Lane, Harwood, Turton, Lancashire. Enlisted in the 44th Bn. at Winnipeg, Canada, 1914.

Simmons, Henry Goldsmith –

Husband of Jeannie E. Simmons (nee Freeman), of 32, Lloyd Street, Norwood, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Formerly of Bolton / Astley Bridge, Lancashire. Formerly an etcher employed in the process department of Messrs. Tillotson and Sons. Served in the South African Campaign.

Slater, Frederick George –

Son of the late Richard Henry and Mary Ann Slater, of Tiverton, Devon. Formerly of the Crowthorn National Childrens Home, Edgworth, Turton, Lancashire.

Slater, William Riley –

Third son of Lieutenant Colonel John William Slater and Mary Agnes Slater (nee Garnett), of Moorside, Sharples, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly a member of the Rugby Officer Training Corps; formerly Private 443120. Seriously wounded in the head September 1917.

Slinger (Robinson), James –

Son of James Slinger (stepfather) and Mary Alice Slinger (formerly Robinson, nee Higson), of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and the late Edward Robinson. An old boy of the Deane School. Killed when his dug-out was hit by a German explosive shell. Memorial also in Deane Churchyard. NOTE:- Reported in local newspapers as James ROBINSON.

Smith, Richard –

Son of Arthur and Mary Smith, of 70, Church Avenue, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Two brothers also served, Arthur (Royal Army Medical Corps) and William (Canadians).
