Hill, Joseph –

Brother of James Hill, of 117, Hall Lane, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. An orphan from the Moses Gate area, had friends residing at 60, Hall Lane, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Previously worked for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company in the Signal Department before going to Canada. Reported missing and subsequently presumed killed.

Hirst, John –

Son of the late Thomas and Emily Hirst, of 2, Alton Square, Tatton Street, Cass Street, Salford, Lancashire. “He was killed during a severe shelling of our positions near Courcelette. No further details as to the actual circumstances of his death are available.”

Husband of Ann Collier (formerly Hodson), of 38, Bilbao Street, Victory, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 7, France Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1914.

Holden, Richard –

Husband of Elizabeth Holden, of 626, Ellice Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Previously enlisted 12/05/1916 as Private 288607 for service of 5 months with 221st Bn., Canadian Infantry, dicharged as medically unfit 19/10/1916, and prior service of 3 years Royal Artillery.

Husband of Mrs. Hannah Horrocks, of Peace River, Alberta, Canada. Died 13/12/1940 at Peace River, Alberta from Arthiritis, deformans, etc. Death was due to service.

Horrocks, Richard –

Son of Mr. Harold Percival Horrocks and Mrs. Hannah Horrocks, of Peace River, Alberta, Canada, and formerly of Bertrand Road, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of the Bolton Grammar School. Body not recovered for burial.

Hough, Thomas –

Husband of Sarah Hough, of 10, Bellshaw Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Of 77, Baldwin Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught as an absentee from Shorncliffe since 28/08/1916 and from Seaford since 25/01/1918. Appeared before Bolton Magistrates 11/09/1916 and 28/01/1918 to be sent back to his unit under escort.
