Wilson, Oswald –

Son of Christopher and Teresa Wilson, of Brook Side, Shevington Moor, Wigan, Lancashire. Died of wounds received on 05/11/1918.

Winstanley, Walter –

Caught aged 23 as an absentee from Whitchurch since 25/10/1915 and appeared before Bolton Magistrates 28/10/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).

Wolstencroft, Thomas Norris –

Son of William and Alice Ann Wolstencroft, of 21, Rake Lane, Clifton, Lancashire. Formerly employed on the clerical staff of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company at Oldham Road, Manchester. Enlisted October 1916. Formerly 2nd/6th Bn., King’s Liverpool Regiment. Reported missing from 30/11/1917 and subsequently reported as having died of wounds on 19/12/1917 aged 19 years whilst prisoner of war in Germany.

Woodward, Edward –

Son of Mrs. Woodward, of 3, Shuttle Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Prisoner of war at Dulmen, Westphalia, Germany, captured on or around 12/08/1916.

Woolmer, Stanley –

Second son of the late James Newman Woolmer and Annie Woolmer, of Meadow Bank, Green Lane, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School and Farnworth Grammar School.

Worsley, Fred –

Only son of Joseph and Nanny Worsley, of 515, Halliwell Road, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of the Bolton Grammar School and the Bolton Church Institute. Enlisted February 1916. Died of wounds to the head in hospital in Boulogne.

Worsley, Horace –

Son of Edwin and Margaret Ann Worsley, of 40, Hampden Street, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School. Previous service in the 9th Lancashire Artillery Volunteers.

Of 70 Wigan Road, Westhoughton, Lancashire. Prisoner of war. Enlisted May 1915.

Wynne, Herbert –

Son of William and Annie Tonge, of 6, Tong Street, New Bury, Farnworth, Lancashire. Home service only. Interred in Farnworth (St. James) Churchyard 20/12/1917.
