Of 8, The Avenue, Westhoughton, Lancashire. Posted missing aged 21 since 29/08/1918 and subsequently confirmed prisoner of war.

Lingard, Harold –

Son of Amelia Lingard, of 21, Enys Street, Pendleton, Lancashire. Formerly 50129, 4th Bn., King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.

Liptrot, William –

Son of Private James Liptrot and Mrs. Emily Liptrot, of 32, Angle Street, Tonge Moor, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously enlisted 07/11/1914 at Farnworth as Private 17601, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, and discharged 15/11/1914 as not likely to become an efficient soldier, and again 06/02/1915 at Rhyl as Private 20365, 15th Bn., Welsh Regiment, and discharged 03/06/1915 as not likely to become an efficient soldier. Re-enlisted as Private 5208, 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Claimed to be 19 years old when enlisting. Surname also alternatively recorded as LIPTROTT.

Logan, Alexander –

Husband of Mrs. Harriett Logan, of 7, Towton Street, Harpurhey, Manchester, Lancashire.

Logan (Dunn), John Andrew (Thomas) –

NOTE:- Served as Thomas DUNN. Son of the late Stephen and Jane Loghan. The 1891 census gives John’s name as John A. Loghan, in the 1901 census this has changed to John Logan. He was killed during the battle of Frezenberg the 08/05/1915, which proved to be the worst in the King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment’s history. An article found in the Salford Reporter states that John had served in the army for 10 years and his sister lived at 35 Rudman Street, Salford, Lancashire.

Lomax, Charles Rothwell –

Son of Alice Lomax, of Bolton, Lancashire, and the late Thomas Lomax; husband of Kate Eliza Lomax, of 56, Gurth Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1915.

Longworth, Lee –

Son of Joseph and Ann Longworth, of 37, Mount Street, Swinton, Lancashire.

Looms, John –

Husband of Mrs. Looms, of 36, Ainscow Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1915, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Hospitalised at Bristol in November 1917 having been severely gassed, and previously wounded once before.

Son of Henry and Ada Elizabeth Lounsbach; husband of Bertha Lounsbach, of Cheetham, Manchester, Lancashire. Attached Auxiliary Military, Pioneer Corps.

Lovell, Thomas –

Husband of Emma Louise Lovell, of 12, Wyatt Street, Salford, Lancashire.

Mackay, Charles –

Son of William and Sabina Mackay; husband of Edith Mackay, of 28, Wilson Street, Ardwick, Manchester, Lancashire. Attached Supply and Transport Corps.

MacLagan, James Graham –

Son of Mary Elizabeth MacLagan (nee Graham), of Rockwood House, Rothbury, Northumberland, and the late Philip Smirton MacLagan. Formerly Royal Army Medical Corps. Commissioned 25/01/1916. Attached 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment at time of death. His brother Lieutenant Philip Whiteside MacLagan, M.i.D. (5th Bn., Border Regiment) also fell.
