Ashurst, Robert Haslam –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ashurst, of 49, SLackey Brow, Kearsley, Lancashire, husband of Mary Ellen Ashurst (nee Roscoe), of 61, Old Hall Street, Kearsley, Lancashire and formerly of 14, Tonge Street, Kearsley, Lancashire. Suffered severe gunshot wounds in the hand and thumb 23/10/1917, and treated at 6th General Hospital.

Husband of Emily Ashworth (nee Rostron), of 8, Dean Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previous service with the Lancashire Fusilierss joining in 1898, time-expired after 7 years regular and 5 years reserve service.

Ashworth, John –

Son of John Thomas and Sarah Ashworth, of Radcliffe, Lancashire; husband of Annie Ashworth (nee Barnes), of 63, Ladyshore Road, Little Lever, Lancashire. Formerly Private 5603, 5th Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers.

Ashworth, Alfred Thomas –

Son of J. R. and Mary Ashworth, of II, Fletcher Street, Little Lever, Lancashire, and formerly of 7, Alma Street, Little Lever, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915.

Asnip, William –

Brother of Mrs. Foulkes, of 150, Peel Street, Farnworth, Lancashire; husband of Mrs. Asnip, of Hull, Yorkshire. Enlisted aged 16 and served in India until the war. Wounded in the back in the Dardanelles. Reported missing aged 31 since 12/04/1918 and subsequently confirmed prisoner of war.

Aspden, George –

Son of John and Annie Aspden, of Pendlebury, Lancashire; husband of Alice Aspden, of 7, Dumbell Street, Pendlebury, Lancashire.

Astle, Joshua –

Son of John and Catherine Astle, of 52, Cleggs Lane, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Enlisted February 1915 in the Border Regiment. Died aged 21 years 20/03/1919 of broncho-pneumonia and influenza, and interred in St. Paul’s (Peel) Churchyard, 22/03/1919.

Aston, James –

Son of Thomas and Jane Ann Aston, of 66, Holland Street, Whit Lane, Pendleton, Lancashire. Posted missing since 25/04/1918, and subsequently confirmed prisoner of war at Limburg. Reptriated 27/11/1918.

Atherton, Joseph –

Son of Nancy Atherton, of 38, Rosamond Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 23853, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Gunshot wound to back in France 21/06/1917.
