Husband of Annie Maria Hargreaves (nee Axon), of 6, Beckett Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 50, Isabella Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously enlisted at Bolton 07/09/1914 as Private 14520, 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, and discharged 03/10/1914 as not likely to become an efficient soldier. Home service only on both periods of service.

Son of Ann Sharples (formerly Hargreaves), of 7, De Rothwell Cottages, Cox Green, Bromley Cross, Turton, Lancashire, and the late Michael Hargreaves. Formerly of 32, Paper Mill Road, Eagley, Bolton, Lancashire.

Hargreaves, John A –

Son of Mrs. Hargreaves, of 31, James Street, Little Lever, Lancashire; husband of Mrs. Hargreaves, of Ainsworth Street, Halliwell, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1916. Wounded June 1917 in the face and hand.

Hargreaves, John William –

Son of John Hewitt and Frances Hargreaves, of 92, Cawdor Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. A Lewis gunner, he was at his post near Ypres in the front-line trench with his gun when he was killed by a trench mortar.

Hargreaves, Arthur Bertram –

Only son of Mr. A. B. Hargreaves of Chorley and Southport. Enlisted on the day war was declared. Commissioned Second Lieutenant 02/09/1914. Reported in a casualty clearing station in France suffering from gas poisoning in November 1918.

Of 9, Marsh’s Square, Hill Lane, Blackrod, Lancashire. Reported missing. Formerly 1st/4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Formerly Private 2437, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Of 32, Battenberg Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Wounded 09/08/1916.

Hargreaves, Edward –

Third son of the late John Thomas and Alice Hargreaves, of 20, Lee Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly an employee of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company. Enlisted January 1915.

Harling, Fred –

Son of Charles and Alice Harling, of 30, Thornton Street, Preston, Lancashire. Formerly Private 3094, 4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Harling, John –

Son of Mr. T. and Mrs. S. A. Harling, of 124, Clifford Street, Chorley, Lancashire.

Harlow, Frederick –

Of 27, Back Pump Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 5793, 12th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Caught aged 25 as a deserter from Lytham since 15/10/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 16/10/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).
