Son of the late William and Margaret Whitehead (nee Kershaw). An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School.

Whitehead, Frank –

Son of Mrs. Whitehead, of 164, Harriett Street, Walkden, Lancashire. Enlisted February 1917. Captured 21/03/1918 prisoner of war.

Whiteley, John Thomas –

Attached 53rd (Young Soldiers) Bn. Possible death in 1925 aged 53, in the Rusholme sub-district of Manchester, and interment at Bolton (Heaton) Cemetery on 04/05/1925.

Whittaker, John –

Son of Richard Whittaker and Sarah Whittaker, of Accrington, Lancashire; husband of Marian Whittaker, of 23, Knoll Street, Higher Broughton, Salford, Lancashire.

Whittingham, Richard –

Son of ex-Police Sergeant Ricahrd Whittingham, of Clifton, Lancashire, and the late Barbara Ellen Whittingham. Enlisted August 1914.

Whitworth, Henry –

Son of Alfred Henry and Harriet Whitworth. Of Brackley House, Morris Bank, Stockport, Cheshire.

Wightman, Arthur Bennett –

Son of Arthur Bennett and Sarah Jane Wightman, of 372, Bury New Road, Higher Broughton, Lancashire. Of 41, Warbreck Drive, Blackpool, Lancashire. Formerly Lance Corporal 6698, 16th Bn., Manchester Regiment. Transferred to Inns of Court Officer Training Corps 03/08/1915 and subsequently commissioned.

Wilcock, Harold –

Second son of Mr. C. B. Wilcock, of Bromwich Street, Haulgh, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Artists’ Rifles, London Regiment. Commissioned.

Wilcox, Joseph –

Son of Hannah Wilcox, of 241, Manchester Road, Walkden, Lancashire. Accidentally killed when a rifle grenade exploded during training. Death reported by letter from Lance Corporal Sidney Jones of the Manchester Regiment. Reported as WILLCOCK in F&WJ.
