Of 553, Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught influenza while home on leave, but it was thought this was aggravated by a gun-shot wound in the head he had recently sustained.

Crossley, Samuel (Sam) –

Son of Thomas and Mary Crossley, of 45, Wellington Road, Swinton, Lancashire. Reported wounded and missing at Peronne 25/03/1918, and subsequently presumed to have died of wounds about that time.

Crowther, Cyril –

Son of Councillor George Crowther, of Bolton, Lancashire. Gazetted from second lieutenant July 1916. Previous service in the South African Campaign with the Duke of Lancaster’s Own Yeomanry.

Husband of Irena Cumberbatch, of 1, Parkdale Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously employed as a Post Office Telephonist. Formerly Sapper 2490, Royal Engineers.

Daft, Richard –

Son of Samuel Daft, of 34, Stewart Street, Halliwell Road, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 23, John Alfred Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Sapper 8704, Royal Engineers. Wounded by gunshot to left elbow 10/05/1918.

Of 63, Coe Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915. Caught aged 39 years as an absentee from Haynes Park, Bedford since 03/03/1915, since 23/07/1915, and since 25/09/1915. Appeared before Bolton Magistrates 05/03/1915, 29/07/1915 and 27/09/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).
