Youngest son of Abraham and Margarete Barlow, of 47, Halshaw Lane, Kearsley, Lancashire. An old boy of Farnworth Grammar School. Previously employed by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company at Hunt’s Bank, Manchester. Formerly Sapper 219101, Royal Engineers.

Barnes, James –

Son of Alfred and Sarah Barnes, of 31, Chatham Street, Bradford, Manchester, Lancashire. Died of Tuberculosis and interred in Swinton Cemetery. His brother Alfred also fell.

Barnes, Joseph –

Of 85, Chorley Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught as an absentee from Clipstone Camp, Mansfield since 26/05/1916 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 29/05/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/27).

Baron, George –

Of 24, Grasmere Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1915.

Barrett, Frederick Robert –

Husband of Alice Ada Barrett (nee Ashwell), of 60, Falsgrave Road, Scarborough, Yorkshire. Died at Fort Pitt Hospital, Rochester, Kent.

Barrow, Cyril Franklin –

Son of Councillor Isaac Barrow, J.P., and of Mary Barrow, of “Brantwood”, 206 Manchester Road, Westhoughton, Lancashire. Of “Brantwood”, 231, Green Lane, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted December 1914 into the Royal Field Artillery. Formerly a Battery Scout (Gunner 281) with the 6th Bn., Motor Machine Gun Service, Machine Gun Corps. Commissioned 08/06/1916.

Worked for the London and North Western Railway Company as a Fireman at Patricroft, Lancashire. Also worked at Carnarvon.

Barton, Edward –

Son of Thomas and Sarah Barton (nee Morris), of 170, Manchester Road, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Lucy Barton (nee Dunn), of Bolton, Lancashire. Died aged 46 years and interrred 20/03/1929.

Baxendale, Herbert –

Husband of Beatrice Baxendale (nee Hilton), of 37, Markland Hill Lane, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed as a telegraphist with the Post Office.

Baxendale, James –

Husband of Sarah Ellen Baxendale, of 559, Wigan Road, Deane, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 9, Lenora Street, and 31, Oak Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 6799, 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded in the arm 19/06/1917. Reported missing 30/11/1917, and subsequently confirmed prisoner of war at Munster II Camp, Germany.
