Son of Counc. Peter and Mrs. Scholes, of 37, Church Street, Westhoughton, Lancashire. Enlisted 1914 as a Private in the Earl of Chester’s Imperial Yeomanry. Commissioned Second Lieutenant 23/01/1916 in the Royal Engineers. Promoted September 1916 to Captain.

Scott-Taggart, John (Jack) –

Son of William and Annie Scott-Taggart (nee Callie), of Smithills, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Grammar School (1905-14). Enlisted aged 17 1/2 in December 1914. Formerly Staff Sergeant and signalling instructor, Seaforth Highlanders. Formerly Sapper, Wireless Section, Royal Engineers. Wounded in the leg in April 1917.
