Roebuck, William Harold –

Son of William and Grace Roebuck, of 334, Chorley New Road, Horwich, Lancashire, and formerly of 312, Chorley New Road, and 42, Richmond Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company. Qualified as a pilot at Military School, Ruislip 26/04/1917 in a Maurice Farman biplane. Graded 1st Class Pilot 05/06/1917. Reported missing 11/09/1917 and subsequently presumed killed.

Roskelly, Wilfred Menadue –

Son of William J. and Mary A. Roskelly, of 9, The Crescent, Northwich, Cheshire, later of 1, Crown Lane, Horwich, Lancashire. Reported missing subsequently presumed killed.

Rudd, Joseph Percival (Percy) –

Elder son of Henry and Marie Rudd, of Park View, 179, Chorley New Road, Bolton, Lancashire. A sergeant pilot, he died in France as a result of an aeroplane accident.

Sharples, Norman –

Son of the late J. T. and H. W. Sharples, of 5, Gilnow Road, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School (reported as Captain, Army Service Corps in “Supera” school magazine). Formerly Royal Army Service Corps. Commissioned 29/09/1915. Killed when the aeroplane he and his observer, Lieutenant Ryan, were flying observations was hit by a shell.

Sheppard, Asa Frederick –

Son of Alfred and Elizabeth Ellen Sheppard, of 117, Great Cheetham Street West, Higher Broughton, Salford, Lancashire.

Smart, George Orme –

Son of Arthur and Edith Smart, of “Farley Hill”, Kersal, Lancashire. Killed in aerial combat (Easter eve) and fell in the enemy’s lines near Neuville Vitasse, France.

Smith, Sidney (Sydney) –

Son of James and Ellen M. Smith (nee Makin), of 395, St. Helens Road, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Mrs. Smith, of 394, Derby Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Sunning Hill Council School. Enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers, commissioned in the Lancashire Fusiliers.

Son of John and Sarah Ann Sutton, of 37, Cemetery Road, Kearsley, Lancashire.

Taylor, Ernest –

Of 50, Heaton Road, Lostock, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1915.

Vickers, –

Son of James Vickers, pawkbroker, and of Angelina Vickers, of 272, Blackburn Road, Bolton, Lancashire.
