Son of Mrs. F. R. Johnson, of “Rokeby”, Stafford Road, Ellesmere Park, Eccles, Lancashire, and the late A. E. Johnson. Also General List.

Kendall, Fred –

Son of Mary Antoinette Kendall (nee Kershaw), of 5, Pall Mall, Mytholmroyd, Yorkshire, and of Thomas Kendall. Born as Fred KERSHAW, and baptised at Halifax, St. John the Baptist 20/11/1898 under this name. Formerly employed by the Manchester Film Company. Formerly Private P/260248, 478th Home Service Company, Labour Corps. Transferred to Royal Flying Corps 06/08/1917. Missing and presumed drowned at sea en-route to Egypt. NOTE:- RAF Record incorrectly lists date of birth as 30/08/1878.

Lawson, James –

Of 10, Sunnyside Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted as a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. Qualified as a pilot in 1917 with the Royal Flying Corps.

Lee, William –

Of 22, Cannon Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1915.

Lomas, Frank –

Son of Thomas and Mary Hannah Lomas, of The Glen, Suffolk Road, Bournemouth. Died at Connaught Hospital, Aldershot, Hampshire.

Mason, George –

Of 43, Church Street, Little Lever, Lancashire. Enlisted July 1915. Formerly King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. Attched to the kite balloon section, Royal Flying Corps.

McCubbin, George Reynolds –

Son of David Aitken McCubbin and Lucy McCubbinm of Johannesburg, South Africa. Father was chief architect for South African Railways. Enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps as a mechanic before qualifying as a pilot. Credited with having shot down Captain Max Immelmann, the German Fokker “star” on 18/06/1916. Noted as a South African Cricketer.

Moss, Eric –

Of Linthwaite, Albert Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1915.

Okell, Ernest –

Son of Henry and Mary A. Okell; husband of Edith Okell (nee Ousey). Worked on the staff of Bolton County Borough Libraries Department before and after his war service.

Orr, William –

Of 106, Darley Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted July 1915.

Pickstone, Charley –

Son of Charley and Gertrude Pickstone, of “Corrin”, Hamilton Road, Whitefield, Lancashire. Family in Bolton and Farnworth, Lancshire.

Prestwich, Joseph –

Son of Joseph and Elizabeth Prestwich, of “Elm Bank”, 172, Eccles Old Road, Pendleton, Lancashire. Formerly East Lancashire Division Train, Royal Army Service Corps.

Rawsthorne, Harold –

Of Primrose Street, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed by Gordon Bros., motor engineers of Bolton. Enlisted July 1917, aged 18. Gazetted to Second Lieutenant in the Royal Flying Corps in November 1917.
