Makinson, Harold Shaw –

Son of Joseph and Florence Makinson, of Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Emily Makinson, of 48, Daisy Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Over 21 years service in the Royal Navy. Killed in an explosion. Body not recovered for burial. Reported as Harold Shaw in BC.

Mann, Fred –

Son of William and Mary A. Mann, of Boothstown, Lancashire.

Marchant, Edgar –

Resided with his brother-in-law and sister, William H Smith and Nurse Smith, at 92, Harrowby Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted in the Navy aged 16 as J1404 (Ch.). Previously took part in the Persian Gulf operations in 1911.

Marsh, Donald –

Son of John William and Mary Ellen Marsh, of Atherton, Lancashire.

Martin, Jack H –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Martin, of 12, Alexandra Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Served on one of the ships hunting German submarines.

Mattison, Albert –

Son of Thomas William and of Mary Jane Mattison (nee Greenhalgh), of Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Agnes Gertrude Mattison, of 8, Pool Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Served throughout WW1 also in the Navy (HMS Albion).

McEntee, Hugh –

Son of Laurence and Ellen McEntee, of Leigh, Lancashire. An old boy of Thornleigh Salesian College.

McGhee, Edward –

Son of James and Ellen McGhee, of 20 Herbert Street, Salford, Lancashire. Body not recovered for burial.
