Son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Haslam; husband of Annie Haslam (nee Parkinson), of 31, Isabel Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Lance Corporal 15226, 9th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Healy (Smith), Edward Joseph (Edward Patrick) (Joseph) –

NOTE:- Served as Joseph SMITH. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alick Healy, of Manchester; husband of Bessie Edith Wilson (formerly Healy, nee Carpenter), of 2, Strides Lane, Ringwood, Hampshire. Enlisted at Manchester 19/10/1914 into the 8th Bn., East Lancashire Regiment (Private/Corporal 16430) from 91, John Taylor Street, Bolton, Lancashire, but whilst training met his later wife, and deserted on 21/06/1915. He later re-enlisted into the Royal Scots under the assumed name of Joseph SMITH. Court martial for desertion and false enlistment was dispensed with. Recommended for the D.C.M. (not awarded) for rescuing a wounded comrade the day before he himself was wounded and subsequently died an hour later. Reported as Edward HEALEY in BJ&G. Also recorded as Edward Patrick Healy.

Hodkinson, Evan –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hodkinson, of 38, Church Street, Westhoughton, Lancashire. Enlisted May 1915. Wounded aged 22 in October 1917 by gunshot resulting in the loss of two fingers of the left hand and an injury to the head, receiving hospital treatment in Scotland.
