Of 39, Roxalina Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1915. Appeared before Bolton Magistrates whilst stationed at Crosby on 22/06/1915 as defendant in a Bastardy case brought by Bertha Raby of 494, Wigan Road, Bolton, Lancashire. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/25 & JBO/11/5/67).

Younger son of George Makin, of 132, Radcliffe Road, Darcy Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School.

Son of Thomas Makin; husband of Elizabeth Timmis (formerly Makin), of 65, Harry Street, Trafford Road, Salford, Lancashire.

Makinson, George –

Husband of Mary Makinson (nee Lucas), of 42, Whittaker Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 51, Nile Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed on railway work. King’s Hall Roll of Honour. Reported missing since 29/08/1916 and subsequently presumed killed.

Markland, Wilfred –

Son of Mrs. Markland, of 14, Rumworth Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Mobilised 14/08/1914. Captured at Mons and prisoner of war at Cassebruck, near Bremen, in Germany, subsequently exchanged and returned home in November 1918.

Marsh, William –

Son of Spencer Marsh, of the Greyhound Hotel, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted aged 17. Machine gun section. Served in Mesopotamia.

Son of Charles Baron Mather and Mary Elizabeth Mather, of Bolton, Lancashire. Attached No.2 Commando.

Mattison, William –

Eldest son of Thomas William and Mary Jane Mattison, of 8, Pool Street, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Emily Mattison (nee Haddock), of 63, Cross Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1915. Home service only. Died at Rosyth, Dunfermline and interred 22/03/1919.
