James, Walter –

Son of Edwin and Esther Ellen James, of 5, Crescent Avenue, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted September 1914. Mistakenly reported killed 22/03/1918, and subsequently discovered to have been taken prisoner of war. Repatriated 26/12/1918.

James, William Ormond –

Husband of Mary James, of 75, Lawn Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 15, Silverwell Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught as an absentee from Perham Down since 05/12/1916 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 11/12/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/27). Wounded at Ypres 04/10/1917 in the face, both knees and right forearm by shrapnel; lost right eye.

Jameson, Ellis –

Of 80, Park Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted in 1914. Three years regular service with Lancashire Fusiliers and 9 years on reserve. Killed by shrapnel whilst on sentry duty in trenches.
