Millhouse, Theodore –

Son of Henry and Eliza Millhouse, of “Ferndale”, Park Hall Estate, Gobowen, Shropshire; husband of Edith M. Shimmans (formerly Millhouse), of 2, Leamington Street, Bolton, Lancashire. AN old boy of the Ridgways Endowed School. Formerly 238015, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Hospitalised at Manchester in November 1917 dangerously with trench fever and inflammation of the kidneys.

Openshaw, Joseph –

Son of James and Margaret Openshaw; husband of Margaret Elizabeth Openshaw, of 29, Tempest Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 13, Minerva Street, Bolton, Lancashire. A reservist, he had previously served in the South Africa and in India.

Son of Thomas and Amelia Openshaw; husband of Ellen Openshaw, of 9, Hampton Road, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire.

Pearson, William Ellis –

Son of James and Annie Pearson, of 376, Halliwell Road, Halliwell, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1915. Formerly Welsh Regiment. Reported as Ellis Pearson in BJ&G.

Porter, John Schofield –

Son of Eliza Jane and the late Richard Porter, of Langdale, Welbeck Road, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Elsie Porter (nee Lee), of “Hazelmere”, 98, Chorley New Road, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School. Served as Sergeant Signalling Instructor in his Bn. Died of wounds at the Stationary Hospital, Abbeville, France.

Price, Samuel –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Price, of 13, Bury Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1914. Reported missing since 18/08/1916 and subsequently presumed killed. Two brothers also served, one invalided from France, and one thrice wounded and served in Mesopotamia.

Ridings, Stanley –

Son of William and Mary Jane Ridings, of 34A, Bury New Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Wounded 16/03/1918. Service number incorrectly recorded as 242007 on SDGW. Wounded 16/03/1918 and died ten day later.

Rutter, James Martin –

Eldest son of the late James Martin Rutter, former Borough Coroner for Bolton, and Mary Rutter. An old boy of Bolton Grammar School. Formerly 3353, 1st/6th Bn., Manchester Regiment. Attached 22nd Bn.. Reported missing in France since 02/09/1916 and subsequently presumed killed.

Smethurst, William –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. William Smethurst, of 51, Brookfield Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Fought at the Somme, Arras, and High Wood battles. Succumbed to a shrapnel wound in the left arm.

Stanley, Edward –

Son of Bradshaw Dymond Stanley, Sergeant of the County Police Office, and of Agnes Stanley, of 78, Bradshaw Road, Bradshaw, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly C/170, King’s Royal Rifle Corps, and Army Cyclist Corps. Posted missing since 20/07/1916 and subsequently presumed killed.
