Formerly Royal Fusiliers, enlisting February 1915, and commissioned in August 1916 as Second Lieutenant, and promoted to Lieutenant in April 1917.

Hill, Edward Blackburn –

Son of Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Hill, of 39, Burnham Avenue, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 10, Grundy Row, Smithills, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted aged 16. Killed by a machine gun bullet at Poelcapelle.

Husband of Mary Elizabeth Hill, of 39, Burnham Avenue, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 10, Grundy Row, Smithills, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously served 12 years in the 2nd Bn., Manchester Regiment before the War, serving in Egypt and India. Re-joined the Army in the Royal Defence Corps and stationed at Knockaloe Camp on the Isle of Man.
