Son of Colour Sergeant Richard Walmsley and Fanny Walmsley, of 34, Bentinck Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly Corporal 3063, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Killed by a shell.

Walsh, James –

Of 127, Bridgewater Road, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1915. Killed by the same shell which also killed H Walmsley and W Gerrard.

Warburton, Harry –

Son of Mrs. Alice Warburton, of 71, Lorne Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted May 1916. Memorial in Little Lever (St. Matthew) Churchyard.

Ward, Andrew –

Husband of C. A. Ward, of 76, Leach Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly of 36, Openshaw Place, Farnworth, Lancashire.

Wardley, Elisha –

Husband of Sarah Alice Wardley (nee Holt), of 2, Chapel Street, Farnworth, Lancashire, and formerly of 26, Cawley Street, Pendleton, Salford. Enlisted at Manchester 19/08/1914 as Private 4932, 6th B., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, and later 11622, 8th Bn., Welsh Regiment. and discharged 02/04/1915 as medically unfit. Re-enlisted Bolton 15/05/1915, wounded in the head on 30/06/1916 and discharged 11/09/1917 due to Bronchitis. Died aged 34 years on 04/11/1917, and interred at Farnworth Cemetery 08/11/1917.

Waring, Thomas –

Husband of Elizabeth Grant (formerly Waring), of 19, Hill Top Road, Walkden, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1914. Attached 2nd/1st North Midland Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps. Died from wounds received on 23/10/1918 to the leg, abdomen and arm.

Husband of Mrs. Warren, of 26, Leinster Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly employed in Farnworth and Bolton as branch shop manager for the Maypole Dairy Company. Enlisted June 1915. Reported as William in BJ&G and F&WJ.

Watson, James Roby –

Son of Adam and Zenath Watson, of 41, Glynne Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly 21st (Public Schools) Bn., Royal Fusiliers. Commissioned. Memorial in Farnworth (St. James) Churchyard. Reported in F&WJ as Roby Watson, and in the BC as Robey Watson.

Son of John and Margaret Wearden, of Lancaster, Lancashire; husband of Emma Wearden, of 7, Church Road, Walkden, Lancashire. Worked for Salford Corporation Tramways Department.

Webb, William –

Husband of Catherine Webb, of 112, Cawdor Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1915. Formerly 6600, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Previously employed as a fireman for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company. Went down with the transport ship Aragon which was torpedoed 30/12/1917 en-route to Egypt.

Eldest son of Walter William and Esther Webster, of 56, Darley Street, Farnworth, Lancashire; husband of Jennie Woodhouse (formerly Webster), of 12, Windsor Street, Rhyl, Flintshire. Killed by a bomb dropped by a hostile aircraft.

Brother of Mrs Emma Hindley (nee Weston), of 28, Campbell Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Of 27, Georgiana Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted December 1914. Brother Frank served in France.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Whittle, of 34, Queen Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly 2460, 2nd/1st Lancashire Hussars, which he joined aged 18.
