Previously enlisted at Farnworth 28/08/1914 as Private 12203, 7th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, and discharged 06/10/1914 as unlikely to become an efficient soldier. Memorial in Farnworth Cemetery.

Originally enlisted at Bolton as Private 20667 in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment 26/04/1915 and discharged as not likely to become an efficient soldier 28/04/1915. Subsequently re-enlisted at Lower Broughton as 3963, Lancashire Fusiliers in July 1915.

Son of Herbert and Eliza Charnley, of 105, Hall Lane, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly 6th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. His father (Loyal North Lancashire Regiment), and brothers W. and H. also served.

Third son of Thomas and Charlotte Clare, of 28, Worsley Road, Farnworth, Lancashire. An old boy of Farnworth Grammar School. Memorial in Farnworth Cemetery.

Son of Mr. Clarke, of 120, Piggott Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1916. Reported missing and subsequently presumed killed. His brother Thomas was employed on munitions in London.
