Son of John Atkinson, of 5, Alpine Terrace, Kearsley, Lancashire. Brother of Thomas Atkinson who served as a Sapper in the Canadian Railway Troops.

Barnes, James Francis –

Son of Henry and Alice Barnes, of 63, Leach Street, Farnworth, Lancashire; husband of Mrs. Barnes, of 29, Ash Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, and later of Trafford Grove. Died of wounds when there was an air attack on the clearing hospital he was in.

Bleakley, William –

Son of William and Margaret Bleakley, of 21, St. John Street, Kearsley, Lancashire. Of 11, Manor Cottages, Kearsley, Lancashire. Formerly employed at Newtown Pit by the Clifton and Kearsley Colliery Company. Enlisted October 1915. Posted missing since 11/09/1918 and subsequently presumed killed. St. Gregory’s R.C. Church. Brother John served in the Lancashire Fusiliers.

Boardman, Joseph Alphonsus –

Son of Charles Johnathan and Lydia Boardman, of 62, Central Avenue, Highfield, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly of 19A, Plodder Lane, Farnworth, Lancashire. “During the operations South West of Wytschaete, this soldier was hit in the head by an enemy rifle bullet, and instantly killed.”

Son of Daniel and Ellen Bradley, of Farnworth, Lancashire; husband of Frances Bradley, of 54, Bridgewater Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted May 1916. Died at a casualty clearing station of wounds received 13/04/1918.

Nephew of Mrs. Kelly, of 87, Clammerclough Road, Kearsley, Lancashire. Of Mosley Common, Boothstown, Lancashire. Brother of William Brian. Formerly Gunner 104183, Royal Garrison Artillery.

Brian, William –

Nephew of Mrs. Kelly, of 87, Clammerclough Road, Kearsley, Lancashire. Enlisted in the Lancashire Fusiliers aged 19 and discharged 18/09/1909 after 12 years service including 7 abroad. Served in the South African Campaign. Re-enlisted Border Regiment in 1914. Reported as killed during landing at Dardanelles in August 1915.

Burke, Joseph –

Son of Catherine Burke, of 66, Crompton Street, Farnworth, Lancashire; grandson of Mrs. Burke, of 12, Kent Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1914. Seriously wounded in the legs and right arm in France on 11/08/1918, and died that day.

Son of Catherine Burke, of 7, Gregson Street, Farnworth, Lancashire, and the late Patrick Burke, and formerly of 12, Kent Street. Formerly 3646, Lancashire Fusiliers.

Carney, Patrick –

Husband of Mary Jane Carney (nee Mooney), of 31, Kent Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly of 201, Bridgewater Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Originally enlisted at Bolton as Private 20667 in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment 26/04/1915 and discharged as not likely to become an efficient soldier 28/04/1915. Subsequently re-enlisted at Lower Broughton as 3963, Lancashire Fusiliers in July 1915.

Coleman, Thomas –

Husband of Mrs. Coleman, of 8, Levers Court, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1914. Wounded June 1915 by gunshot to the arm, and resumed duty. Died from influenza in hospital in France.
