Son of the late Francis and Mary Ann Marshall; husband of Millicent Marshall (nee Baron), of 71, Astley Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Lost at sea when the transport ship Transylvania was torpedoed.

Son of Peter and Mary Ann McKie, of 63, Holland Street, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915. Reported missing and subsequently presumed killed.

Son of the late Harry and of Mrs. E. J. Morris (Confectioner), of 32, Eagley Bank, Eagley, Turton, Lancashire. Wounded 09/08/1916. Died at Abbeville No.2 Stationary Hospital, France.

Pilling, William –

Son of Albert and Nancy Pilling, of 23, Holly Street, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1915. Attached 2nd Bn., Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Died in hospital at Rouen from Influenza and Bronchial Pneumonia.

Richards, Edward Cyril –

Son of William and Alice Richards, of 10, Whitehill Cottages, Sharples, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915.

Riley, James –

Husband of Louisa Riley, of 29, Coop Street, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. A Sergeant of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, which he joined at the start of the South African Campaign. Formerly employed as caretaker of the Co-Operative Society Reading Rooms at Halliwell. Body not recovered for burial.

Youngest son of the late James Rostron, and Nancy Rostron, of 711, Blackburn Road, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of the Bolton Church Institute. Enlisted June 1916. Formerly Private 36988, 3rd Bn., Cheshire Regiment. Commissioned 26/01/1917. Brother of Captain Harry Rostron, captain of the RMS Carpathia at the time of the Titanic Disaster.

Son of Joseph Jackson Warren and Emma Jane Warren, of 23, Sherwood Street, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 3968, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Recorded as John James Wilson on Bolton County Borough Roll of Honour.

Wells, Walter –

Son of William and Joyce Wells, of Marton, Rugby, Warwickshire. Police Constable 187 of the Bolton County Borough Police, of 20, Broad-o’th’-Lane, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire prior to being called out for Army Service 06/08/1914. (Bolton Archives: ABJ/22/203). He was normally resident of Chapen-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, at the time of his death. Died at Broadwater Hospital, Ipswich and interred with full Military Honours at Ipswich. His brother Stephen also served.
