Son of Lewis and Ellen Whittaker, of 14, Sutcliffe Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed as a conductor on the Bolton Corporation Tramways. Enlisted October 1915.

Whittle, George Thomas –

Son of David and Martha Whittle, of 73, Old Road, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 4817, Cheshire Regiment.

Wilkinson, Thomas –

Son of John Thomas Wilkinson and the late Rachel Wilkinson (nee Paulden); brother of Charles Wilkinson, of 22, Villiers Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Resided at 17, Heywoods Hollow, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly served 5 years as a Stoker in the Royal Navy. Enlisted August 1914.

Wood, Reginald James –

Second son of William James and Charlotte Ida Wood of King Edward’s School, Witley, Godalming, Surrey. Formerly head schoolmaster of Eden’s Orphanage, Bolton, Lancashire.

Woolfenden, Wilfred –

Youngest son of John Herbert and Sarah Hannah Woolfenden, of 22, Mitre Street, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted into the Royal Aarmy Medical Corps in September 1914 and transferred to the Gordon Highlanders during training. Wounded at the Loos and Hill 60 engagements, several times operated upon and had his right leg amputated above the knee. Died at the General Hospital in Boulogne.
