Edwards, George –

Husband of Gertrude Edwards, of Brook Lea, Mellor, Derbyshire. George had been promoted to Sergeant on the 20/03/1915 but at his own request reverted back to a Private in 1917. He suffered a wound to his head on 21/04/1917. Prior to the war George had worked as a clerk and lived with his wife Gertrude (nee Mayerscough) at 165 Regent Road, Salford, Lancashire. They had a daughter, Joan, in 1916. After George’s death Gertrude moved from Salford to live at Brook Lea, Mellor, Derbyshire.
