Son of George and M. Greenhalgh, of 16, Ferguson Street, Lyon Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly of 58, Livingstone Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 19 as a deserter from 2nd/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment at Blackpool since 20/11/1914 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 24/11/1914 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/25). Killed during a shell bombardment, described by Lieutenant Tong as “one of the most willing and efficient grenadiers.”
