Hartle, Sidney –

Son of William and Dinah Hartle, of 2, Halifax Street, Brownlow Fold, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 1627, 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Died as a result of an accident which occurred on 21/08/1917 when a comrade, Private William Marsh (240726), was cleaning a Very pistol, which he did not realise was loaded, and it discharged the charge into Sidney’s forehead.
