Son of Mary Jane Hall (formerly Fletcher), of 41, Hulme Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previous service with 4th Bn., Scottish Rifles. One of three sons on active service.

Fletcher, John Henry –

Husband of Mabel Fletcher, of 385, Bolton Road, Kearsley, Lancashire, and formerly of 110, Bradford Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Professor of music. Formerly Sergeant 225118. Appointed bandmaster for the 1st Canadian Division, and subsequently commissioned 06/06/1917. Acidentally wounded near Loos 20/08/1917 when kicked by a horse.

Flett, Alexander –

Relative of Jane Flett, of Janetstown, Wick, Caithness. Caught aged 35 as an absentee from the Military Convalescent Hospital, Woodcote Park, Epsom since 17/03/1918 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 04/04/1918 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/29).

Fullard, William Lee –

Only son of Richard and Emma Fullard, of 2215, Centre Street North, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and formerly of, Hutton, Alberta, Canada, and formerly of Bolton, Lancashire. While with his battalion, during an attack in front of Cambrai, an enemy shell burst in close proximity, killing him instantly.

Gee, George –

Only son of Richard Watson and Margaret Gee, of Braeside, Ontario, Canada, and formerly of Darcy Lever, Bolton, Lancashire; nephew of Mr. A. H. Gee, of 57, Dorset Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Killed in action in the vicinity of Courcelette.

Gentles, Robert Binnie –

Son of Revd. T. Gentles; husband of Mrs Gentles (nee Wilson), of Bolton, Lancashire. Wounded June 1916, admitted to No.13 Stationary Hospital, Boulogne with multiple gunshot/shell wounds 09/06/1916. Later treated at Townleys Hospital.

German, Thomas –

Son of Thomas R. and Rachel German, of Canal Head, Kendal, Westmorland. A brother resided at 15, Ruby Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Whilst taking part in operation near the Yser Canal Bank at Ypres, he was instantly killed by a shell.

Gilbert, Claude –

Son of Mrs. Fanny Gilbert, of Salford, Lancashire. Served in the South African Campaign with 9th Lancers.

Grandin, John Hamer –

Separated husband of Alice Ann Grandin, of 94, Harvie Avenue, Toronto, Ontatio, Canada. Formerly Royal Army Medical Corps. Formerly a tramcar conductor, of Campbell Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Emigrated to Canada in 1914.

Son of Rosa Maria Jones (formerly Greenland), of 46, Malyons Road, Ladywell, Lewisham, London, and the late Henry John Greenland. Formerly of the Crowthorn National Childrens Home, Edgworth, Turton, Lancashire.

Greenwood, Arthur –

Son of Nancy Greenwood, of 344, Deane Church Lane, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late Robinson Greenwood. A homesteader of Landis, Saskatchewan, Canada. Enlisted December 1915. Died of Wounds at No.12 Canadian Field Ambulance.

Gregory, James –

Son of Samuel Gregory, of 97, Lippincott Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the late Hannah Gregory; husband of Hazel Gregory, of 432, South Scott Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Of 117, Harrison Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Died of pleurisy.

Griffin, Thomas (Tom) –

Husband of Emily Griffin, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; brother of Mr. P. Griffin, of Darwen Road, Bromley Cross, Turton, Lancashire. Had his right arm fractured by machine-gun fire on 08/10/1916, his birthday.

Son of William Grime, of 25, Pedder Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly connected with the St. Peter’s Mission, Barrow Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire.

Grimes, Matthew –

Eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Grimes, of 60, Park Street, Swinton, Lancashire.

Grundy, Fred –

Son of Mrs. Grundy, of 9, Campbell Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Employed as a fireman by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway before emigrating to Ontario, Canada. Enlisted February 1915. Wounded in the back when he fell from his bolting horse during a bombardment.
