Husband of Mary Ann Disley (nee Frankland), of 82, Lonsdale Road, Smithills, Bolton, Lancashire. Appears as William in local newspapers. Enlisted March 1916. Formerly 36486, King’s Liverpool Regiment.

Dixon, Thomas Alexander –

Son of John and Emma Dixon, of 121, Vernon Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 15485, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Intitally reported as missing, subsequently confirmed as wounded on 02/07/1916. Died in hospital.

Done, James –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Done, of Salford, Lancashire; husband of M. E. Done, of 20, Hartington Street, Regent Road, Salford, Lancashire. Formerly T4/072564, Royal Army Service Corps.

Dooley, James –

Brother of Mrs. Butterworth (nee Dooley), of 7, Green Street, Farnworth, Lancashire.

Dover, Peter –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. William Dover, of 15, Crompton Road, Prestolee, Lancashire; husband of Alice Dover (nee Talbot), of 423, Cleggs Lane, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 20470, 17th Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers; formerly Private 135263, 64th General Hospital, Royal Army Medical Corps. Wounded in the back 21/08/1917. Prisoner of the Bulgarians for a time October 1918. Hospitalised at Salonika January 1919 suffering from dysentery.

Duckworth, James –

Son of Mrs. Duckworth, of the Travellers’ Rest, Market Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Of 90, King Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1917.

Edmunds, Edward –

Caught aged 38 as an absentee from Garswood since 30/01/1916 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 31/01/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).

Edwards, George –

Husband of Gertrude Edwards, of Brook Lea, Mellor, Derbyshire. George had been promoted to Sergeant on the 20/03/1915 but at his own request reverted back to a Private in 1917. He suffered a wound to his head on 21/04/1917. Prior to the war George had worked as a clerk and lived with his wife Gertrude (nee Mayerscough) at 165 Regent Road, Salford, Lancashire. They had a daughter, Joan, in 1916. After George’s death Gertrude moved from Salford to live at Brook Lea, Mellor, Derbyshire.

Husband of Maude Egden, of 24, Hough Lane, Lower Broughton, Lancashire. Formerly 16/38105, King’s Liverpool Regiment.

Eggleton (White), Thomas –

NOTE:- Served as Thomas WHITE. Son of Sydney and Louisa Eggleton, of 56, George Street, Lower Caversham, Reading, Berkshire. Native of Reading, Berkshire.

Son of William and Sarah Ann Ellis, of Tyldesley, Lancashire; husband of Margaret Ellis, of 2, New Rock Cottage, Daisy Hill, Westhoughton, Lancashire.

Evans, James –

Son of William Thomas and Emma Evans (nee Cooke), of 19, Holly Avenue, Walkden, Lancashire. Reported missing since 26/09/1917 and subsequently presumed killed.

Evans, John Henry –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Evans, of 11, Dyfolog Terrace, New Tredegar, Monmouthshire; husband of Margaret Evans, of 118, Commercial Street, New Tredegar, Monmouthshire. Formerly 23872, Welsh Regiment.

NOTE:- Served as Absalom HEATON. Husband of Mrs. Evans, of 81, Darley Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly of 4, Railway View, Farnworth, Lancashire. Wounded twice previously.

Fairclough, J –

Husband of Mrs. Fairclough, of 219, Deane Church Lane, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly of 362, Willows Lane, Deane, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of the Bolton Municipal Secondary School. As a second lieutenant he was wounded by a sniper’s bullet in the right arm, shoulder and back during the fight for Mametz Wood on 10/07/1916.

Farrell, William James –

Husband of Sarah Jane Farrell (nee Lomas), of 12, Oldham Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously enlisted as Private 23359 at Bolton 22/02/1915 Royal Welch Fusiliers, and discharged as not likely to become an efficient soldier 31/03/1915. Re-enlisted. Caught as an absentee from Bebington since 31/05/1916 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 02/06/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/27).
