Son of Bessie Eccles (formerly Stevens), of The Fold, Barrow Hall Lane, Great Sankey, Warrington, Lancashire, and the late Thomas Stevens; brother of Mrs. Vane, of 67, Brackley Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Reported missing since 17/02/1917 and subsequently presumed killed.

Stevens, James –

Of 16, Birley Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught AWOL aged 35 from Bebington Camp, Rock Ferry since 08/04/1917 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 23/04/1917 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/28).

Son of Samuel Stockwell, of 67, West Clowes Street, Trafford Road, Salford, Lancashire, and the late Rachel Stockwell. Born at Lower Broughton, Salford, Lancashire. Died of dysentery at 23rd Station Hospital, Amara.

Stott, Douglas –

Son of Mrs. Elizabeth E. Stott, of 36, Islington Grove, Salford, Lancashire.

Sunderland, Arthur –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Sunderland, of James Street, Little Lever, Lancashire. Lost a leg as the result of a wound sustained in the early stages of the battle of the Marne 1914.

Swindlehurst, John Henry –

Son of James H. and Elizabeth Ann Swindlehurst, of 30, Leverhulme Avenue, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 133, Plover Street, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1915. Father served in the King’s Liverpool Regiment. Reported as SWINGLEHURST in BJ&G.
