Of 8, Maxwell Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 20 as an absentee from France since 04/12/1917 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 13/12/1917 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/28). NOTE:- A duplicate entry appears in the Bolton County Borough Roll of Honour under the 8th Bn., King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.
