Son of Joseph and Florence Makinson, of Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Emily Makinson, of 48, Daisy Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Over 21 years service in the Royal Navy. Killed in an explosion. Body not recovered for burial. Reported as Harold Shaw in BC.

Son of William Henry and Alice Mather (nee McDona), of 62, Sloane Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 24, Woodbine Road, Morris Green Lane, Bolton, Lancashire. Reported missing since 09/08/1915 and subsequently presumed killed.

McCready, John Robert (Mac) –

Youngest son of John William and Sarah Ellen McCready, of 23, Milford Road, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 41, Kylemore Avenue, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Grammar School (1905-06). Died of wounds at Northampton Military Hospital.

Middlehurst, William –

Husband of Bertha Middlehurst, of 27, Caledonia Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Wounded on 11/04/1917 and died the following month.

Miller, James –

Son of Robert and Hannah Miller, of Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Emily Miller, of 13, Whitby Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1914.

Morrison, John Edward (Jack) –

Only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Morrison, of 334, St. Helens Road, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire, and later of Linwood, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Enlisted September 1914. Killed while rescuing a wounded comrade.

Nield, Charles Henry –

Husband of Rachel Nield, of 176, Lee Avenue, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 45, Howcroft Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Sergeant 17, formerly Police Constable 89 of the Bolton County Borough Police, having joined the force 12/01/1906. (Bolton Archives: ABJ/22/139). A brother also served. Killed by the bursting of a high-explosive shell. Previous service in the South African and Crete Campaigns. Service number recorded as 2381 on CWGC.
